Reply To: The Fall of Kabul – The Taliban Are Back?

My boyfriend in college was all about the ROTC and on so many occasions he told me how today’s personnel in the armed forces are treated so well when they complete their tours and return to civilian life thanks to decades of effort from the VA and coverage via news and movies decrying the fate of Vietnam vets.  Today’s armed forces are a far cry from those before them.  They get highest priorities at employment in their labor and skills class in both many private sector groups and all public sector agencies.

I also wanted to remind you (Superman) and others bemoaning the Middle East American armed forces, that these guys upon returning from Afghanistan or Bahrain are NOT necessarily going back to civilian life.  Most of them will still be on active duty and assigned either at home or abroad in the Pacific or Europe.  Its not an automatic end of military career when our men are called back home from a certain active region.
