      Thor and Loki

Not a big fan of Thor or Marvel movies, so pardon me sticking my nose into their pile of fun.  However just recently was the accidental tourist so to speak and as I watch this film, being friendly and trying to force a few laughs from my throat to chime with the theater audience blithely chuckling at every line as if they were in a hypnotic trance from I dont know where, trying to laught with possibly the least humorous superhero movie that I know of, there is this big pivotal point where Thor gathers around a bunch of asgardian children and conveys on them all THE POWERS OF THOR and wham these kids starts kicking and punching with Thor superpowers and MY JAW DROPPED at this NAKED STEAL FROM SHAZZAM, LMAO!  I mean this is the trick Shazzam uses to multiply his powers by sharing them with his adoptive family.

      Hold on!!!

In the Shazzam world they all hold the staff and repeat the magic word and bam we have the Marvel family of superheroes (not to be confused with Marvel superheroes).  In the world of Shazzam, our main hero Billy Batson is also called Captain Marvel and his family of superheroes are the Marvel family because their magic powers are marvels of the world.

      Hold onnnnnn please!!!

For our superhero THOR to have this kind of multiplicative power sharing, back when in Avengers Endgame when Thanos stepped onboard his ship and killed half of all the remaining Asgardians after the Hulk was beaten senseless and Loki’s neck snapped and Thor was tied down and allowed to watch powerless, shouldnt the writers have allowed Thor to share his powers with all his fellow Asgardians BEFORE THANOS boarded his ship?  With several thousands THORS THE MIGHTY  ASGARDIANS putting up a fight, Thanos and his army would have been whipped and beaten in seconds.

So once more my JAW DROPPED at this scene in Love and Thunder where a small groups of Asgardian kids have all the powers of Thor and help in defeating GOR THE GOD BUTCHER.  Incredible, incredible, just no sense whatsoever, there is no continuity or consistency at all in portraying these superheroes, story devices are conjured up in whatever manner needed to satisfy a particular TV movie episode with big budget SFX, no matter how bad the story is – Thor Love and Thunder builds it up a to hopeless fight where Thor will be beaten bu GORR and then BOOM comes some kind of trick to even the odds and milk the fake suspense in the audience.  Bad writing at its best, bad superhero movie at its worst, and this one was truly lacking in humor and laughs.  Disney’s Marvel production team needs to clean house!

Horrible illustration of ending a fight with Thanos in seconds, the writers at Marvel would faint and fall to the floor the way the women of Zeus did on the sight of naked Thor.

A great critique you made, but I would say had Thor used the same trick at the time Thanos’ ships fired on his and was about to board them, the alternate story would be Thanos and his army would have been met with thousands of angry Asgardians all having been given the powers of Thor and there would have been a lengthy battle similar to the one on Asgard before its destruction in Ragnarok.  Then the alternate story goes Thanos barely escapes with his life and plans on having his revenge on the intact Asgardians knowing they took refuge on Earth.  Thus moves along the story of Avengers Infinity War and Endgame.  If Thor and the thousand other Thors were to beat Thanos in a few seconds, Marvel Studios would be in tears as you would be depriving them of five hours of cinematic merchandising product to drone audiences sitting through a convoluted time travel scheme and then these cute lovable fans would be finding out in Love and Thunder that Loki did not have to die, Thor and The Hulk did not have to have an inferiority complex from being beaten by Thanos and the confrontation with Gorr would have to be a little more creative than a repeat of the battle with Thanos a la Shazzam (Marvel) Family.

I really fancy how you brought out a big cruddy/broken piece of Love and Thunder.  Ragnarok was also kinda rickety and on thin ice but most audiences let it slide.  This one is really high on the “falling to pieces” aka FTP Chart.

My android eyes bugged out a few times while watching, had a few laughs but overall inferior to the previous Thor movies.  I think COVID may have placed a lot of pressure on studios to rush some movies after a two year mess from everyone all around.  Chris Hemsworth is not to blame, mostly the screenwriters.

They overextended Natalie Portman’s character Jane Foster, from a humorous setup in Avengers Endgame where he is so bereft at the death of Loki, his father Odinson and half of his planet, the screenwriters went too far in trying to create a more believable continuity within the solo Thor quartet movies.  I think the sparks would have been much livelier if the She-Thor was a new love interest or flirting girl, someone mysterious, unknown to viewers and Thor, who actually challenges the character rather than feed the “old flame rekindled” line which became drama/melodrama at the end.

Really disliked the ending and what they did with the Jane Foster character.  Thor deserved a new love interest, cool Fonz has lots of chicks who fall for him, but the writers want Thor to be a nerd and a one woman man validating all the NERD stereotypes aside from being fat, bad at relationships and bad at love.

Thor Love & Thunder could have been a lot of new witty , sharper dialogue as he tries to unmask who would be so worthy they could handle and lift Moljnir.  There could have been story threads to unveil in a possible next chapter.

There are so many other wobbly and feeble points in this film – overall feels rushed and unpolished.

A really bad way to bid so long to Chris Hemsworth hammer wielding Thor, now that James Gunn is at DC and firing all the old guard, I wonder if Hemsworth will be brought in as Booster Gold or maybe Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow in the new Justice League.  Oh wait, Gunn did not mention if they are completely banishing the Justice League from the roster of next generation DC movies.
