Beauty Secrets Oscars 2021
Oscar Glitters
Mostly with Chanel

What did celebrities attending the 2021 Oscars hide from the cameras that made them shine and sparkle?  West Coast Midnight Run™ digs behind the scenes to unveil to you some of their beauty and glamour secrets.

It would be fair to say that Chanel was super busy this year, not only providing facial beauty enhancers but also many of the apparel and gowns the stars were rocking.

The Day Belonged to Andra

Newcomer and leading lady in The United States vs. Billie Holiday earned Andra Day a Best Actress nomination as Billie Holliday but her talents for presenting herself in front of the camera do not stop with her acting skills, last night she glittered on the red carpet thanks to her cosmetics stylist who offered insights into Andra’s golden-like glow, noting the use of blush powder from Chanel to give her the ultimate highlight (Chanel Perles de Lumière Illuminating Blush Powder).

And who is to blame for Andra’s incredible-looking gold metallic gown this Oscar evening?  None other than Vera Wang, although its definitely not in the traditional fashion line you would expect from the iconic fashion designer, Andra wore the garment and made it all her own.

Amanda Seyfried, or Zellwegger?

Amanda Seyfried was the knockout contender with the delightful Mank nominations, she simply lit up the red carpet with her incredible, classic styling, red Armani dress, showcasing its generous frontal top slit.

With the help of stylist Renato Campora, Amanda’s gold and brown hair was slicked back and to the side, further cementing for her that authentic Mank-era look.  And with Lâncome lip liner (Amanda is Dior’s Brand Ambassador), Le Lip Liner in Rose she crafted a fuller set of pouty lips for her Lâncome lipstick, L’Absolu Rouge Drama Matte Lipstick in 481 Nuit Pourpre.  In complete set, Amanda nailed the power, yet vulnerable, lady of the red carpet look; a signature style normally held by Renee Zellwegger.  Tonight, two Hollywood beauties were in competition for that look and Seyfried edged Zellwegger.

The Return of Renee Zellwegger

To understand the hoopla behind the “Return”, a few years ago Zellwegger made headlines in beauty and style columns when it became a little obvious her looks had changed dramatically from her most popular films … and bad plastic surgery was the presumed culprit.  This year Zellwegger returned to the Oscars as a presenter and unveiled a restored look that seemed to make the “nightmare surgery” rumors look all but smoke and mirages.  Keep soldiering on, Dorothy, Oz or no Oz!

Rouge Yeri Han

Han Ye-ri, also known as Yeri Han, is a highly versatile and popular South Korean film actress; and the newest star to join the lineup of celebrities thanks to the Oscar-nominated Minari.

For the event, she was decked out in red hot lips, also courtesy of Chanel, along with a red-hot sleeveless dress, courtesy of Louis Vuitton, complemented with large braided golden buttons.

Ms. Han used two tones of red lipstick, applying the Chanel Rouge Coco Bloom Colour in Magic on the full lip combined with the Rouge Coco Bloom Color in Vitalité for a soft outer lip blurry edge.

The Stars' Bright Lights Were Fainter This Year!

Like many of us watching, perhaps you felt this year’s ceremonies were a little short on glamour and style, not because the guests and celebrities were not in full regalia and had tons to offer the viewers, but we couldnt help but wonder where were some of the big sparklers?

Like Scarlett Johansson, with her biggest movie Black Widow slated for release this year.  This is possibly Johansson’s farewell bow, as her character has graced the entire Marvel Avengers series, so although not nominated for an Oscar, her movie is a “big deal” to industry watchers and fans alike.

I am sure she could have nagged her publicist for an invite and made a splash for all of us.  And she definitely would have been currying favor with her bosses at Disney.

We missed you Scarlet!
It wasn’t just Johansson, Zoe Saldana was nowhere in sight, and other favorites like Keira Knightley, Felicity Jones, Emilia Clarke, and Charlize Theron to name just a few.

Plus with Fast & Furious’ big decade-long closing two-parters, neither Nathalie Emmanuel, Michelle Rodriguez nor Jordana Brewster made an appearance.  We can’t forget that we have Big Bond’s 25th Opus this year and neither Ana de Armas, or Léa Seydoux graced the red carpet.

We really felt the Oscars were shy of a few sparklers tonight.
